Supporting Owners Navigating the Transition of Selling Their Business

Second Wind

The phenomenon has come to be used as a metaphor for continuing on with renewed energy past the point thought to be one’s prime, whether in sports, careers or life in general.

DO YOU EVER WONDER OR DREAM ABOUT WHAT YOU WOULD DO
IF YOU WEREN’T RUNNING A BUSINESS?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TODAY IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO WORK?

FACT

Every business owner will
exit their business someday.

FACT

The average business owner does not have a plan as to how they will exit their business.

FACT

You didn’t achieve this level of success by being average.

Selling a business can be one of the largest and more emotionally challenging transitions an owner will ever experience. I understand because I’ve lived it.

Few people recognize that there are two transitions which take place:

  1. The strategic transition of selling or simply closing the business
  2. The emotional transition before, during and most certainly after

Two important questions to consider:

  • Can I afford to exit my business?
  • What will I do after I exit my business?

My work involves more than consulting, it’s also educating & coaching. It’s listening and helping you visualize what your most desirable and realistic future may look like. I will help you unearth the intention of your decision as well as what is motivating you to make this decision.

Many owners sell their business for the same reasons they started them…

…for more Freedom and Control.

The first step is recognizing that you could use support.
The second step is finding the right person to help you.

I bring over 30 years of experience helping 100s of clients navigate 1000s of transitions. I would be honored to help you, too.

Every business life is like a human life in that each has a beginning, a middle and an end.

Where is your business on this journey?

Supporting Owners Navigating the Transition of Selling Their Business

I’m now 3 years on the other side of selling my own successful financial planning practice. I enjoyed creating and operating a business for most of the 25 years the practice was under my direction. I truly enjoyed serving my community. But once the passion for running my business disappeared, I knew I needed to make a change. Sometimes it is just as important to know when to step away.

This work is important to me because there is a place in my heart for the business owner, who puts his/her blood, sweat and tears (not to mention time, talent and money) into their business.

While many advisors help prepare the business for sale, I help prepare the owner.

While many advisors focus on the transaction, I focus on the transition.
